An official adaptation of the 2013 horror movie Oculus has been brought to us titled Dobaara, written and directed by Mike Flanagan. A song from the movie, Dobaara: See Your Evil, which stars Huma Qureshi and Saqib Saleem, has been released.
‘Kaari Kaari’ is played when the protagonist of the movie seems to look back into her tragic past. According to the original 2013 version, both her parents pass away rather gruesomely when the protagonist and her brother were kids.
While her brother is convinced their father was mentally unstable and his father was having an affair with another woman and hence the culprit, Huma’s character firmly believes it was a haunted mirror placed in their house that caused all the trouble.
The song is effective in capturing the lead’s confusion and the desire to figure out what was real and what wasn’t with its patient and sweet melody and lyrics. There are splits of both the sibling’s pasts in the video that show how each of them saw the events playing out and what lead up to the tragedy.
Huma Qureshi and Saqib Saleem have executed their characters convincingly well. The song, as a whole, is great as an exposition and sets the premise for the rest of the movie quite well. Dobaara has been written and directed by Prawaal Raman and produced by Relativity Media and Intrepid Pictures. It will hit theatres this June.
