Finally, the much anticipated track Radha from Shah Rukh Khan and Anushka Sharma’s upcoming Imtiaz Ali film Jab Harry Met Sejal is out and we’re already playing it on loop. Shah Rukh and Imtiaz launched the song in Ahmedabad on Wednesday.
Without much ado, let’s talk about Radha. This fun, easy going number begins with SRK aka Harry, explaining to Sejal (Anushka) why all the Punjabi singers are so loud in their singing. “Kisaan hote hain saare, tractor chalate hain kheton mein aur saath gaane bhi gate hain. Toh apni awaaz sun ne ke liye tractor ki awaaz se upar gaana hota hai,” he says and breaks into this impromptu song at a high note which initially takes Sejal by surprise. But she joins in the song and gives it a Gujarati twist (in the end) soon after Harry begins singing in Punjabi.
What follows is a series of visuals that give us multiple glimpses into the mad energy and crackling chemistry that the two actors share on screen amidst the picturesque landscape of Prague. The scenic locales coupled with the crazy antics of Anushka and Shah Rukh steal the show.
We heart the way, when Shah Rukh says to Anushka, “Nice! Sweet! Sister type. Thoda garam gaa sakti hai?” and roars towards the end of the song. We can’t help but be reminded of his similar roar after the dialogue “No I Know, I’m very sexy,” in Kal Ho Na Ho (he said that to Preity Zinta while telling her to live, smile who knows, Kal Ho Na Ho). Only, this time his roar is much more husky and sexy! And boy! When SRK lifts his shirt to flash his washboard abs, a moment-to-die-for!
The lyrics of Radha are a fine blend of Punjabi and Hindi and are penned by Irshad Kamil. The track has been composed by Pritam and crooned by Shahid Mallya and Sunidhi Chauhan who are simply mesmerising. From exotic locales to Shah Rukh Khan and Anushka Sharma, what’s not to love about the song? This one’s irresistible!
