Actress Priyanka Chopra is now a huge star in both Bollywood and the West. However, in a recent interview she’s talked about how much being taunted that she wasn’t “fair” affected her in her childhood and teenage years. She also spoke about regretting taking on endorsements for fairness creams.
“I got swayed into doing it… but then I realised it made me feel like I did as a kid – I used to try all those products until I became Miss India,” the actress told The Guardian.
When asked whether she wished she had lighter skin, Chopra nods and replies, “It really works on your psyche, man. We don’t realise it, but it does. I was the darkest, so in jest my family called me kaali [black girl], and I never really understood how much that affected me until I was a teenager”.
