This is the day when fortunes of cricketers change in a jiffy, this is the day when unknown names hog the limelight, this is the day when big stars of the game pocket giant contract and etch their names in record books. Yes it’s the Indian Premier League (IPL) auction and auctioneer Richard Madley, popularly referred to as the ‘Hammerman’ is going to the call the shots one last time before all players go back to the auction pool in the next edition of the tournament.
A total of 352 players will be up for grabs in the auction out of an original pool of 799 (which was shortened after consultation with the eight franchises). There are as many as 122 international players, including six players from Associate nations (five from Afghanistan and one from UAE).
