Jacqueline Fernandez gives up sugar and dairy products for Lent – Gives up sugar and dairy products
Jacqueline Fernandez
Jacqueline Fernandez is known to celebrate Christmas on a grand scale every year, but few people are aware that the actress also observes Lent each year. Lent is the 40-day period before Easter, excluding Sundays, which begins on Ash Wednesday and ends on Holy Saturday (the day before Easter Sunday). Those who observe it have to give up some comfort, something they like. Jacqueline, who is a firm believer, has as part of her Lenten observations, given up sugar and sweets from March 1, when Lent began.
She says, “I believe Lent is a time to pray and seek blessings. It teaches you to give up what you cherish the most, to be able to grow as a person. I feel, rather than giving up on something, it is important to practise the values weaved into us and make sure we follow it to the tee, as it is a season for self-examination and to become more mindful, more penitent and more reflective. Every year I give up on something and this year, it’s the indulgent things like sweets and dairy.”
The actress has started shooting for Drive, co-starring Sushant Singh Rajput and despite a hectic schedule of day-long shoots is adhering strictly to the tradition of Lent.
