I’m done with Kangana playing the victim card: Karan Johar REACTS to the actress calling him ‘movie mafia’ – Kangana Ranaut had accused Johar of ‘Nepotism’ and here’s what KJo has to say…
When Kangana Ranaut appeared on Karan Johar’s popular chat show, Koffee With Karan, she was like a ball of fire. She didn’t miss a single opportunity to take a dig at Karan Johar and even called him the “flag bearer of nepotism.” Now, KJo has come out and spoken about Ranaut’s comments.
During his recent interaction with noted film critic Anupama Chopra, Karan Johar responded on the comments made by Kangana on KWK. “She was my guest, so I had to hear what she had to say. She has the right to have an opinion. When she says ‘flag bearer of nepotism’ I just want to say, I’m glad she knows what it all means.”
Karan went on to add, “I don’t think she’s understood the entirety of that statement. Because what is Nepotism? Am I working with my nephews, nieces, daughters, sons? And what about those 15 filmmakers who are not from the film industry who I have launched and put into movies? That no one will talk about.”
He further gave examples of the directors of Dharma Productions like Tarun Mansukhani, Punit Malhotra, Shakun Batra and Shashank Khaitan, who are not directly from any filmy background, and who’ve been given a platform to showcase their talent, which Johar called, the “reverse of Nepotism.”
Karan went on to question Kangana Ranaut’s term “Movie Mafia.” He said, “When she said ‘movie mafia’ what did she mean? Because what does she think we’re doing? Sitting and not giving her work? Is that what makes us mafia? No, we do that by choice…I do that because may be I’m not interested in working with her. That doesn’t make me a movie mafia, it makes me a man with an opinion.”
“And I appreciate that she had a great perspective and point of view and everyone lauded her, because she came on my show and ‘gave it off to Karan’ that’s what everyone said and I’m like Of course! Because I was gracious enough to keep everything. I cut none of it, I could have edited so much of it since it was my show, I said No, let the world see, this is her opinion and she must voice it. I gave her the platform and this is my platform so I’m telling you what I think,” he told Chopra.
Karan added, ” I’m done with Kangana playing the woman card and the victim card. I’m done! I mean, you cannot be this victim at every given point of time who has a sad story to tell about how you’ve been terrorised by the bad world of the industry, leave it!
