Filmmaker Amole Gupte will be seen directing Shraddha Kapoor in a biopic based on badminton player Saina Nehwal. The director feels Shraddha looks uncannily similar to Saina. He says, “Shraddha resembles Saina. In fact, she was always my first choice. I have had conversations with Saina too. It’s not that this idea popped up recently. I have been sitting on this script for two years,” Amole said.
He further added, “Shraddha is undergoing training from ace badminton player Jitesh Padukone to get into the character. She is so committed to it.”
How difficult is it to showcase the life of a personality who has been is public figure for a long time? He defends, “I don’t know how aware people were about Milkha Singh or Phogat sisters. There are ways of rewriting stories. I would not like to waste the opportunity by creating something so unbelievable that it seems like fiction.”
