eepika Padukone’s mixed messages on #MeToo – Despite saying in an interview that she will not work with any #MeToo accused, the actress might just collaborate with Luv Ranjan for a film.
When Deepika Padukone was spotted with Ranbir Kapoor in a meeting with director Luv Ranjan, news spread that the Bachna Ae Haseeno actors may collaborate with the director. Reportedly, the project also stars and will be co-produced by Ajay Devgn.
The news resulted in a flurry of reactions on social media, as fans asked Deepika not to work in the film. Additionally, an interview of Deepika in a fashion glossy, where she iterated that she will not work in a film with a #MeToo accused, was published.
Now we are told that Deepika has not rejected the film, and her quote about her not working with a #MeToo accused has come at the wrong time. “The makers are planning the schedules, keeping Deepika in mind as the heroine, but she has not spoken about her unavailability for the project. If need be, there may be a committee constituted to find out if Luv was actually guilty or just being named, to see if the project can take off in peace,” says an industry source.
An anonymous accuser had claimed that Luv had asked her to strip down to her undergarments and had asked her uncomfortable questions eight years ago. While actress Nushrat Bharucha, who has worked with Luv Ranjan numerous times, stood up for the director, no official enquiry has been constituted against the director.
