Amrita Singh returns to school, shoots for 'Hindi Medium' – Recently, the actress shot at her alma mater for the Irrfan Khan-Saba Qamar starrer film, wherein she plays an authoritative school principal
She was last seen as Tiger Shroff's overbearing mother in A Flying Jatt, and now Amrita Singh will be seen in Hindi Medium starring Irrfan Khan and Saba Qamar, playing a school principal. The movie has Irrfan playing the role of a rich Punjabi businessman and clothes store owner from Chandni Chowk who, along with his wife, is eager to be accepted in the capital's elite circles.
Director Saket Chaudhary told Mumbai Mirror, "The principal's character signifies authority, a woman who builds the future of children, and Amrita Singh has the quality to intimidate. She's dressed in sarees that were carefully chosen to emphasise that she has taste and that lend her that air of authority."
Chaudhary adds that the veteran actress needed convincing into playing the part. "She was initially apprehensive about coming up against an actor of Irrfan's calibre. But they got along well when they finally shot together," he informs. What is interesting is that the school segment shot for the film were shot in Amrita's alma mater, Modern School, in Delhi. It was Amrita who made the suggestion and was happy to return to school.
