Esha Gupta, who recently grabbed the eyeballs for posting a series of pictures from her lingerie photoshoot, in which she goes from semi-nude to bare-it-all, has now lashed out against haters who comment on her skin colour. The sultry actress had also blocked comments on her photoshoot pics and shut all the negativity and vulgar comments away.
Now, in her interview with Bombay Times, Esha revealed that she’s often had to face racism owing to her dusky complexion. She also shared that she’s often called ‘kaali’ because of her brown skin colour. What leaves her shocked is the hypocrisy of the country that she’s made to feel bad about her colour when about 90% of women in the country have almost the same complexion.
Esha was quoted as saying by the daily, “I am proud of the way I look. In Europe, brown skin is celebrated. In India, I have to face discrimination for my complexion. I am considered kaali and there are people who refer to my skin colour as kaala. It’s sheer hypocrisy. I am made to feel bad about the way I look when 90 per cent girls in India look like me. They have the same skin tone as mine, dark brown eyes and are voluptuous. There are very few women who have a light skin colour.”
She further added, “Are they trying to say that brown-skinned girls can’t be seedhi sadhi? And why just skin colour? We’re also judged for what we wear. If I wear a salwar kameez, you will call me a behenji and if I wear a short skirt, you will call me a w***e. Why is it that my attire affects you so much?
